Willy Van der Meeren (1923 – 2002) was a Belgian architect. He was trained in the modernist architecture school Ter Kameren in Brussels. He made his debut in the late forties. His view on architecture and designing furniture was a natural movement. If you look closely to his work you will always find back the basic lines that he used in almost every project that he realized. Van deer Meeren designed some amazing pieces for Tubax, a manufacturer known for it’s role in pioneering modernism in Belgium. Van der Meeren believed in the simplicity of design and once said: “I am not an artist, nor a designer, I am a builder…If I did not build, I would not be a designer. A few years ago he had a 6 month exhibition in the Atomium at brussels (expo 1958 ). Mill de koninck, Michel Marcy, Thierry belenger are people who spend already a lot of time in collecting and research. Besides the wardrobes, Willy Van Der Meeren Objects are hard to find these days!
