Given the opportunity and such inexplicably good weather that we’re enjoying, the coast is a necessary destination and in particular, the Belgian coast where the fourth edition of the Triennial of Contemporary Art (Beaufort04) is taking place.

Featured among the installations are the ongoing, very social artworks of Jeppe Hein who has once again delighted the public not only with the interesting design subversion of a standard park bench but with the viewers own response to them. Walking on stilts, loop-the-looping, smiling benches that make the sitter a lounger or a percher or a counter-weight to the see-sawing base – whatever the effect, it’s unexpected and engagingly simple.

Beaufort04 is running until September 30
