“What does it mean, to be famous, to be great? What is life, death, nothing? Those questions stay unanswered, famous or not.” Roger Raveel, January 5, 2006

Yesterday Belgium lost one of its greatest artists, painter Roger Raveel left us at age 91. He created his own, particular style named “New Vision”. Mastering the figurative and recognizable, bright colors and deceptive simplicity his paintings kept captivating and surprising its viewers. Although he always stayed humble and never left the small village he grew up in, Machelen-aan-de-Leie he will be remembered by many as a big painter, a pioneer and a all round beautiful person. Farewell Roger, Rest in Peace.
