Pierre Jeanneret was a swiss architect and furniture designer. For many years he worked together with his cousin Charles Eduard Jeanneret, better known as Le Corbusier. Together they designed buildings and furniture. In 1950, they where both asked to redesign the city of Chandigarh, to become the capital of the State of Punjab, after the Indo-Pakistan war. Next to buildings, Jeanneret also designed furniture for this project, independently and with Le Corbusier . This chair is a beautiful example of his minimalistic eye, its made out of teak wood and contains a woven cane seating and backrest. The chair was originally designed for offices buildings and libraries. Jeanneret stayed on in Chandigarh after its construction, advising the local government as Chief Architect of the city.
