Lucien Engels Door Handels

In 1954 Belgian designer Lucen Engels was commisioned to design the Emile Vandervelde holiday home in Oostduinkerke. he had just transformed and expanded the Vandervelde home together with architect Roger De Winter. Being a young architect at the time, it was a dream to able to design building that would give fresh and personal expression to all the ideas of Modernis Movement on an untouched site. These Door handles where designed for this project and where used as coat hangers, handles for cabinet, dressers and doors. The organic shape handles are made from aluminium and have tree holes at the back to attach with screws. The forms Engels developed for this project where clearly created with great pleasure. He will use them also in his further designs.
