Unique sideboard by Alfred Hendrickx designed in 1958 for Belform. This sideboard is becoming more hard to find these days. It is unique in its wood pattern and craftsmanship. The honey colored framed lines in combination with the sapele sliding doors and drawers, gives this sideboard a high end decorative look. The lines create an extra dimensional feel to the design. Typical for Hendrickx his designs from the 50s, are the elegant black lacquered base and doorhandles. This type of model is a recognizable design of Hendrickx in its purest form. To photograph this sideboard, I chose to decorate it with a painting of Vic Gentils. Gentils co-founded the G58 group in 1958 Antwerp and represented Belgium at the Venice Biennale in 1964. Such as Hendrickx in design , Gentils has been a representative artist from the midcentury. As seen on the picture, their works brings a bright atmosphere together. The sideboard stands in an excellent condition.
