Rare floating sideboard by Jos De Mey, made by Van Den Berghe Pauvers dated 1961. This build on request sideboard is fully made in walnut, except for one white formica sliding door. The sideboard has 4 outside drawers, 2 sliding doors and a cabinet space, each detailed with a brass door handle. Inside there is a lot off storage space due the shelves and 4 hidden drawers. This very large sideboard is not only unique in its length but also in its existence. Together with this sideboard comes the architectural plan that was drawn by De Mey for a living space. On the plan you can find a drawing of the sideboard and where it should be placed in the living area. I decided on photographing this one of a kind sideboard with a painting of Jean Rets. As a painter Rets was a co-founder of the Art Abstrait group in 1952, where he joined forces with like-minded artists such as Jo Delahaut, Pol Bury and Jean Milo. It has been this time period that was inspiring for De Mey his designs and work. The sideboard stands in an excellent original condition.
