In 1956 Wout Vercammen made his debut as an artist. Together with Panamarenko, he organized the first Belgian happenings in the 60s, unannounced shows in which the audience played an active role. In the following years he focused primarily on socially critical paintings. Vercammen took his Belgian nationality and turned it into a ready made product. He often patented the Belgian national flag as an artistic concept and employed this striking color pattern in much of his graphic art. This graphical painting has shades of bright green and yellow, and is framed in a chrome frame. The painting dates from the late sixties, a period where a more figurative influence was noticeable in Vercammen his work.
