Painter and sculptor Dorothy Hafner first tried her hand at ceramics, both functional and sculptural in 1973. She created over different lines of tableware, both hand crafted and industrially produced, for such firms as Tiffany & Co. in NYC and Rosenthal in Germany. Her Flash dinnerware, for Rosenthal, created in 1982 quickly became an instant icon of its era and is chronicled in many books on the history of ceramics as well as the design arts. This Flash tableware set was designed for Rosenthal in 1982. It consists of 1 coffee jug, 1 tea jug, 6 cups, 7 saucers, 8 plates, 1 dish, 1 milk jar and 1 sugar bowl. The set is signed by Dorothy Hafner and marked Rosenthal on the bottom.
