I'm always on the hunt for Belgian sideboards with a unique story and value. So I was pleased to find this rare floating sideboard by Jos De Mey. It dates back from 1961 it is made in Belgium by the company Van Den Berghe Pauvers. Jos De Mey, who was a Belgian furniture designer and painter, made most of his furniture designs during the 50’s and 60’s. Besides designing a product range, De Mey also designed custom made sideboards for the company Van Den Berghe Pauvers. This floating sideboard is part of the costume made series. The last sideboard I had from this series and size came with the original architectural plan and signature. They are hard to find in larger sizes (3 meter / 118.11 Inch) which makes it unique in its length. The sideboard has 4 outside drawers, 2 sliding doors and a 2-door cabinet space. The sliding doors are detailed with brass U shaped door handles and the door has a white formica front. The sideboard stands in an excellent original condition.
