The SL58 chair was designed by Belgian architect Léon Stynen in 1958. It was made in collaboration with Stynen his assistant; architect Paul de Meyer. The chair was designed for Straatman, Loral & Cie, an Antwerp company that presented it at world Expo 58 in Brussels. Even as an architect, Leon Stynen designed numerous pieces of furniture, often for specific interiors. But only a very few of them are on the market. The SL58 chair is a timeless classic of Belgian design: an elegant chair with tubular steel legs and a seat in curved multiplex. A magnificent design reduced to pure simplicity and continuity.
This set is upholstered in a brown velvet fabric, which makes this chairs soft and extra comfortable. The chairs are signed underneath with SL, which refers to Straatman, Loral & Cie and not to Stynen Léon. Often there is a misunderstanding about the initinals.
