Djinn Lounge Chair by Olivier Mourgue, 1960s

Djinn Lounge Chair by Olivier Mourgue, 1960s

Djinn lounge chair designed by Olivier Mourgue for Airborne. The iconic Lounge chair was designed in 1964 and the Djinn series became a hallmark of Mourgue’s work. It was used in the 1968 futuristic movie '2001: A space odyssey' and is part of the permanent collection of MoMA in New York.

The foam padding and nylon jersey of this lounge chair has been completely replaced. All done with an eye for detail by Cover & Couch here in Antwerp. I decided to keep it original as possible and did choose for a green Planum Kvadrat fabric. Planum is a double knitted upholstery textile with a refined woven expression and a smooth, soft surface crafted by dutch design Studio Raw. Standing in a perfect condition!
