An exceptional sculptural bed by Italian artist and designer Mario Ceroli, model “La Bocca della Verità”, produced by Poltronova, Italy, 1974.

Executed in pine, the monumental bed features an extraordinary oversized headboard inspired by the Bocca della Verità, the famous ancient Roman marble mask in Rome. Ceroli transforms a functional piece of furniture into a striking architectural sculpture, combining raw timber, bold proportions and a strong visual presence.

The model is associated with Ceroli’s celebrated “Mobili nella Valle” body of work, exploring the boundaries between furniture, architecture and sculpture. “La Bocca della Verità” is among his most recognisable furniture designs and an important example of radical Italian design of the 1970s.
